“The Wall came about by pushing the Elevens around. Walls, being concrete in the first place, are easier to talk about than cubes. On the other hand, and for the same reasons, everybody knows a lot about walls. If the Elevens were to be put in line, they would form a wall sixteen feet long by eight feet high – two squares. This is a root-four rectangle. As it stands, Wall is eighteen feet long. 18/8, or 9/4, equals 2.25, or an approximation in whole numbers of the root-five rectangle, 2.236, a square plus its golden sections.”
